PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA – June 10, 2016 – Next Saturday, June 18th, World Fighting Championships raises the bar at the prestigious Meadows Racetrack and Casino, with a potential bantamweight fight of the year candidate between Cleveland boxer Antonio Nieves (15-0, 8KO) and Dallas’ Oscar Mojica (9-1, 1KO) for the WBO NABO Bantamweight Championship. A former kickboxer, Nieves will be the hometown fighter next weekend, returning to Pittsburgh, where he’s fought several of his professional bouts. Nieves looks to secure the NABO title and continue the momentum that has seen him fight three times since a televised bout versus fellow undefeated fighter Stephen Young (14-0-3) that ended in a draw on the undercard of Andre Ward versus Paul Smith last summer. Mojica will be coming to spoil his plans. He is coming off a unanimous decision win over previously undefeated Johnny Determan (10-1, 8KO) at The Bomb Factory in Dallas in January.
In the co-main event bout, Pittsburgh’s Morgan “Big Chief” Fitch (16-0-1, 7KO) faces Victor Kpadenou (10-10, 5KO) a 6-round middleweight contest. Fitch, who made his debut in 2010, returns to his home in Pittsburgh to fight for the first time since his second professional bout. Fitch gained notoriety in boxing circles last April, when Roy Jones, Jr. mentioned him as a potential opponent for Gennady Golovkin after Golovkin’s dominant performance versus Dominic Wade.
The card also features a female bout between Shianne Gist and Gabrielle “Gabinator” Holloway. Both women are making their debut in a four round bout at welterweight. Gist, who is widely considered boxing’s next “it” girl, comes to the ring with a 2014 Pennsylvania State Golden Gloves Championship in her amateur trophy case, but will be contending with a very tough opponent in MMA fighter Holloway.
Rounding out the seven-bout card, Eric Palmer faces Travis McClaren in a four round, welterweight bout, Josh Fisher battles Rick Morais over four rounds at super middleweight, and Amonte Eberhardt appears in a 4 round welterweight contest.

We sold out the venue and had a great crowd for our milestone 50th event,” said WFC Promoter Matt McGovern. “We’ve been very lucky to have partnered with some great fighters and teams here in Pennsylvania, and we’re excited to do it again. Nieves-Mojica is a great fight, that has all the makings of a fight of the year candidate, and it’s an honor to bring it to Pennsylvania Boxing fans, and to the Meadows Racetrack and Casino.”
